I have family who don’t get rid of things often. It’s mostly because we never had a lot, so whatever you do have, you hang on to. Then over the years you end up in a place where you do have a lot, and some of it needs to go. That’s where I’m at. I’m hoping this makes enough of a difference that it motivates me to do more.

They do. Except with our library, most donations go to the booksale, and I don’t think that money goes directly back to the library. It’s still a work in progress there.

Minimalist… my dad calls me that. I guess it’s because I come from people who NEVER get rid of things. (At least on my mom’s side.)

Thanks It took me all night to figure out how I was going to do it. Now, for the doing. I think I’ll start with some things on my next day off that I’m home for, and go from there. And that’s exactly what I’m trying for, too. Things in this house are too cluttered. After I finish my room to where I’m comfortable in it, than I’m going to tackle some other rooms. My husband has even started to do his room, all on his own, and that says a lot. Usually clutter doesn’t bother him as soon as it does me, but his room is much worse. It’s smaller, to start, and the only furniture he has is a desk for his computers. It’s no use for me to go through his stuff, so I’m happy that he’s started doing it. I think we’ll both be happier once we get things better organized.

I think these are really good ideas. It will probably take you a while to sort all this stuff out but I bet it will feel REALLY good once you’re all done with it and you’ll probably feel a lot less cluttered, too.

My books are what take up the most space. We just have a lot. Both of us can read a novel in a few days then move on to the next one. There’s so much money tied up in those things. D: A lot of the recent ones have been given to us.
